ST. MARY'S SCIENCE OLYMPIAD

Join Science Olympiad

Open to all 5th and 6th graders at St. Mary's of the Assumption School.  Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays typically in January, February, and March.  The competition is at John Carroll University in April.  Parents are encouraged to volunteer as coaches to assist students in their preparation. 

Tshirt Design Competition

Tshirt designs are submitted by students.  The winning design is worn by all competitors and coaches on the day of the competition.

Practice Schedule

Mark your calendars! Every Tuesday and Thursday beginning in January we will have practice after school. ​Pick up is at 3:15. Please note that some events do require practice time beyond scheduled practices in order to be competitive.   Click the link above.

MRS. SCHERMER

​Mrs. Schermer earned her Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Bowling Green State University and M. Ed. from John Carroll University.  Prior to teaching 4th and 5th grade science at St. Mary's, she taught in the South Euclid-Lyndhurst schools from 1995-2005.  

MRS. ZIVANCHEV

In addition to coaching the Science Olympiad team, Mrs. Zivanchev directs the St. Mary's Challenge Program which is designed to benefit students who have demonstrated higher than average cognitive skills and achievement test scores.  In her classroom, she encourages questioning, creativity, problem-solving, and higher level thinking skills.
